I watched Fitzpatrick hit a poor chip shot to let Scheffler back in it. He didn't flinch. Just moved on. Then hits a bullet four iron and makes the putt to win on the first playoff hole.

Fitz didn't lose his flow when he missed. Didn't collapse. Shooter's mindset. Next shot.

That's what the great ones do. We're all going to fail. The question is what you do next.

I applied that same unphased swagger to the Monday skins game at Soule Park.

Shot 39 on the front. Bogeys piling up. But I marched on doing the same things — same routine, same process, same attitude. Same breathing, same appreciation for playing that day, same mental process. And then on the back nine I got into that state.

Not fully in it, but touching that signal, where everything is tuned into together.

And when I felt it I thought — I've been here before. It's been a long time. But I've been here before. What a state of consciousness.

You know the state I'm talking about. Seeing shots. Feeling the swing. In the flow. No hoping. No judgment. Just a good attitude and intentional on each shot. Then the result works out more than not.

Birdied six of nine holes on the back. Two streaks of three.

Thoughts were coming at me down the stretch. I just let them come and didn't get caught up in them. That's the whole game right there. Not eliminating the thoughts. Just not getting caught in them. Keep breathing and marching!

It doesn't happen often. Which is exactly what makes it worth chasing.

Today I touched something that reminded me why I dedicate myself to this ridiculous game.

The flow doesn't show up on demand. But consistency of attitude, routine, emotional control, breath work — that's how you build a door it can walk through.

Have you touched that state? What got you there? Hit reply.
