The shot doesn't need your hopes attached to it.
It needs your attention.

Being in a flow state, calm and present, regardless of outcome is a version of the zone.
Doesn't matter if it's for birdie or double bogey. Doesn't matter if it's the first hole or the eighteenth. Doesn't matter what it means for the round or the scorecard or the bet you have going.
Same routine. Every time.
Step in. Get comfortable. Look out at your target. Take a breath. Feel your feet. Maybe move your toes. Waggle if that's your thing. Let your body arrive at the address position instead of forcing it there.
Then go.
That's it. That's the whole process.
Not I need this. Not don't mess up. Not what does this mean. If those thoughts come, just let them be. Don’t let them overwhelm you.
Just — here's the shot. Here's what the strategy calls for. Here's how I'm going to execute it.
Prepare your body. Prepare your mind. Pull the trigger.
Whatever happens after that is the result of everything you've built — your swing, your practice, your reads, your decisions. The outcome belongs to all of that. Not to the moment of tension you create by caring too much about it while you're standing over it.
Forcing outcome is just your mind leaving before your body does.
Stay. Be present. Hit the shot.
The score takes care of itself.
Play well, Mark
