Here's the trap.

Modern clubs hit it further. They also miss further. More spring off the face means more ball speed on the good ones and more ball speed on the bad ones too.

You're not more accurate with the new driver.

You're just further offline when you miss it, at a higher rate of speed.

That's a worse trade dressed up as a better one.

The equipment industry needs you to believe distance is the answer, because distance is what sells.

A new shaft, 7 more yards off a launch monitor in a fitting bay with zero wind and a mat under your feet….

None of that shows up on a Saturday when you've got trees left and out of bounds right.

Spin rate doesn't fix your tee ball.

Rhythm does.

You need it in the fairway. You need to find the sweet spot on command. That's the whole game.

Find a club you hit well.

Keep it.

You don't owe the industry an upgrade every other year because a number went up on a screen.

The number that matters are dispersion from target.

Accuracy and consistency isn't the boring choice. It's the choice that shoots lower score.
